Meet Your Massage Therapist – Zachary Ball

I guess my road to health care and massage therapy all started with my love for sports. I started very early into coaching soccer at the age of 15 and played since I was 10. I’m also a freestyler which is pretty much just doing some fun tricks with a soccer ball, but the more I played and coached and witnessed injuries and strains the more I saw the importance of taking care of your body and keeping your muscles healthy and happy while playing sports. I took a yoga course in 2011 to expand my knowledge and help teach the importance of stretching and how to do it right to help my sports teams, friends and family. However, when you have been coaching for 11 years you find that there are some injuries that can’t be helped with just stretching alone and when players hurt themselves or are injured from collisions or other activity related injuries I felt somewhat helpless on how to help them and my biggest fear would be making the injury worse for a player.
So I decided to sign up for a massage course in 2015 and right before starting the program I broke me leg playing soccer. So while going though school, I had multiple treatments and did a lot of homecare routines to help me get back to playing regularly again which showed me personally the importance of massage and how much it can help someone who does have a serious injury. I graduated the accelerated program in 2016 in which I was in student clinic for sports injuries 2 semesters in a row and have worked on many different athletes and injuries. I have been working at Legge health clinic ever since I graduated and have enjoyed every minute of being able to work with a great team of health care professionals and wonderful patients. If you had asked me 5 years ago I would never have predicted that this is where I would be.

Being a coach, player, yoga instructor and massage therapist has given me the knowledge and ability to help people to get back to doing what they love. It has also helped me educate kids and adults on how to prevent injuries and allow them to continue their passions for as long as possible. I have always wanted to do something to help people while I was growing up and I’ve never felt more rewarded then doing what I’m doing right now.
