More about Matt

I am Matt Sandeson, a resident of Lower Truro, and am 18 years old. This summer I will be attending the 2017 Summer Canada Games in Winnipeg as a member of the men’s indoor volleyball. I have been playing volleyball since grade six (so for about 7 years now). Through these seven years I have gotten numerous district, regional, and provincial titles as well as other accolades. These include, a grade nine district title with CCJHS my school at the time, grade ten eleven and twelve regional titles with CEC, and a bronze then back to back golds in grade ten, eleven and twelve with CEC. As for my club volleyball career up to this point, I have played seven seasons for the Truro Tide Volleyball club. I would often play up an age level and compete with the older age group, but my accolades come when I played in my own age category where from u14 to u18 I never lost a provincial championship once, along with earning two provincial MVP awards in the two years I played u16 as my real age category. Since the summer of 2014, I have been a member of the provincial volleyball team program. My first year playing I had an untimely rolled ankle, which kept me from the Atlantic competition where we finished second without me playing. The next summer at the same Atlantic competition I captained the team, which captured first and only dropped one set the whole tournament. The next year we had a Canada games development team that went to nationals as training for this following summer a year later. At this competition we finished ninth overall in a stacked bracket of competition all a year older than our team. To cap off the journey up to this summer where I will finally be competing at the Canada Games tournament, I was awarded with the CEC Male Athlete of The Year honor, competing for CEC on the volleyball team, badminton team, cross country team, and track and field team. Through this rigorous years all leading to these summer games I have had multiple injuries and uncountable sore muscles and pains, and I have been working with the Legge Health Clinic’s staff collaboratively to keep me in shape to be able to compete the hardest I can and be able to represent myself and my province the way I want. The clinic was my second team after my volleyball team, and with their diversity and knowledge in treatment is a huge part of where I am now in my career and where I will be going with my career after Canada Games this summer. Thank you for sponsoring me Legge Health Clinic!
